My last month's health update was titled, "Stay tuned and join us for the exciting conclusion!" That was a bit premature, as with UC there is no conclusion, and my mesalamine taper still has months to go.
However, on that note, I have now gone almost two weeks tapered to two mesalamine pills a day. (Down from four.) And I am still doing good! If anything, I am doing better. My stool this morning was this close to normal. This close! It's been three years since that happened! Hopefully it is not a one-time thing, but will continue.
I'm still taking the Rinvoq, of course, and have learned more about the "possible" side-effects. That is the downside to a newly approved medication. They can list warnings about possible short-term side-effects, but know very little about long-term side-effects. But sometimes you don't have much of a choice. I have had no short-term side-effects so far, which I consider a good sign.
I did catch another cold. I experienced hardly any symptoms except for a cough, but boy, what a cough. Earlier this week the cough became almost constant, as well as developing into a hard, racking cough. I coughed so hard for so long that my throat became raw and I almost couldn't talk the next day. I also tweaked my neck and lower back! Luckily the constant, racking cough only lasted one day. While I still have a cough, it only happens once every few hours and is more of a normal cough.
Catching another cold is frustrating because I only had a couple of weeks of feeling really good after my last one. I just started feeling good enough to restart my VR device exercise routine. Now I have to wait yet again.
The good news is, this cold didn't affect my UC at all, like the last one did. Always a good thing!
