- Corticosteroids – while
experts advise against using corticosteroids long-term, they can help
minimize flares and better regulate inflammation in the short term.
- Hospitizations – for bad
flares*
- Surgery – for UC, partial or
full removal of the colon.

- Dietary changes – one of the
most common treatments for IBS is eliminat(ing) foods that frequently
trigger IBS.
- Medicines – certain
medications like antispasmodics can help relieve intestinal spasms.
